Oakville Forklift Instructor Training - For those forklift operators who wish to become a lift truck instructor it is suggested that they complete a forklift Instructor training certification program. Entry qualifications for the forklift instructor training requires the lift truck operator to have extensive knowledge regarding lift truck equipment and skills driving forklifts. Instructor training usually is held at an equipment sales facility or at the campus of a junior college, community college, or vocational or technical school. Forklift manufacturing companies occasionally offer practical, hands-on, train-the-trainer courses.

Whether offered in a classroom environment or at a manufacturing company facility, registering for the course would involve paying a tuition fee, and buying books, manuals or other materials. Program length differs depending on the program. Participants generally have to have satisfactory participation, demonstration, and test scores throughout the course to qualify for trainer certification.

It is assumed that the trainee taking the instructor program would have prior experience operating forklifts. The topics of ethics, teaching techniques, curriculum design and safety issues would be the primary focus throughout the instructor training course. Individuals participating will learn how to demonstrate to their students various aspects of lift truck utilization, like navigating the forklift in narrow isles or moving and stacking materials. Individuals participating will know how to assess student's written tests and demonstrations of their lift truck operating skills. The course goal is to be able to prepare trainers to design and implement their own forklift training programs.

Some self-study of the machines and handbooks is required. Trainers will be expected to create their very own curriculum, that meets regulation guidelines when it comes to subjects presented, such as Operation and Safety. For example, the subject of Safety should comprise an understanding of how to identify possible dangers. The subject of Operation consists of instruction about connecting and utilizing, controls and instruments and maneuvering and steering the fork.
